You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool the folks over at www.SteveLargentSucks.com . They snooped around on the cnn web site and other places... who would have thought they would have quoted "Our Sunday Visitor"... but who would have thought that Largent would have lied about not bringing his religious bigotry into his public office.

Catholics in the House have voiced mixed reactions. Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.) told syndicated columnist Mark Shields: "I hate to think it is anti-Catholic bigotry, but I don’t know what other conclusion to draw."
Rep. Steve Largent (R-Okla.), a former pro-football player and one of the leading national figures in evangelical politics, apparently questioned whether the appearance of a Catholic priest’s collar in Congress would "send the wrong message" or be "divisive."
The Capitol Hill newspaper, Roll Call, reported Dec. 3 that several selection-committee members were upset that Largent raised the issue in tough questioning of Father Timothy O’Brien, who was eventually rejected for the post. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) said she was present during Largent’s questioning and found it to be "not respectful at all."
A spokesman for Largent denied any anti-Catholic bias. —
